Hi Folks

Managed to get onto the forum.

As you may remember I caught my right foot in January (after having metal work taken out)
and fractured my tibia. Well last Friday as I was making the tea, I turned my foot with my crutches
and felt a crack and severe pain up the outside of my ankle.

On Saturday Bev and I went to the local A and E and they said they thought the tibia had refractured.
I told them that I wanted to go to the Freeman (they dont have an A & E). They managed to get in touch
with my Consultant who said he would see me in Clinic on Monday.

As I was told not to weightbare on it they kept me in over the weekend. A great way to spent Mothers Day!!!
Well anyhow I saw my Consultant yesterday morning and was told after he had checked the x-ray that
my tibia was mending well with new bone growing but I had a hairline fracture of the fibia. (Hence the pain).
Told to disregard the moonboot and was put into plaster.

These moonboots are binned. What a waste of NHS money. They cost about £28 each so the Sister at the
clinic was telling me yesterday.

I do hope that all my good friends here and on Facebook are keeping well and not in too much pain from
that terrible arthur. (Hes got a lot to answer for).

Love
Marlene xxx
P.S. Sorry its long winded, just felt I had to put pen to paper!!!

Oh Marlene, what an awful thing to happen!! You`re not having much luck, are you?

Which hospital did you spend the weekend in? That`s really bad luck, to have a fresh fracture! I hope you`re not in too much pain, and that you heal quickly. I`ve never had a moon boot, but have been in plaster several times. You can tell my age when I say that the first couple of times were plaster of paris, - thank God for fibreglass!!

Take care,

Kathleen xx

Hi Marlene,

Your foot sounds very painful and hope that after your stint in hospital you're taking it easy.

Couldn't celebrate Mother's Day, well there's always this Sunday.. to make up for it.

Take Care,

love,

Barbara

What bad luck Marlene. That is all you needed! Moon boots indeed! Hope that it is not so painful and that the recovery is quick.

Hi Marlene

What a rotten thing to happen. Poor you. Hope you soon feel better - and that you get a second mother's day to make up for the one you missed Smile

Hi Marlene, sorry to hear what happened. How long will you be in plaster for now?

Hi Julie

I spent five weeks in my moonboot before the fracture in the fibia.

My specialist said get rid of it and put me in plaster, that was two weeks ago,
another two more to go.

I see him again on 12th April and will see what he says. Still painful when I get up
from sitting awhile.

Hope your aches and pains are not too bad.

Roll on the warmer months.

Love
Marlene

Thank goodness not too long to go. I hope it goes well on the 12th. I do hope you are cast free before the warmer weather comes. Take care.

Julie
